GAND FOUNDATION AT A RARE DISEASES ROUNDTABLE

Connecting Knowledge, Healthcare Professionals and Families

On 22 October 2026, the University of Novo mesto hosted a roundtable discussion titled “From Knowledge to Empowerment: Innovative Education on Rare Diseases for Different Target Groups.”

The event marked the conclusion of an educational programme on rare diseases, bringing together healthcare professionals, experts and representatives of patient organizations.

Jernej Blatnik, founder of the GAND Foundation, participated in the discussion, sharing the perspective of families affected by rare genetic conditions.

The discussion focused on the importance of early recognition and diagnosis, stronger collaboration between healthcare professionals, patients and their families, and the role of education in improving care for people living with rare diseases.

For the GAND Foundation, participating in conversations like these is an important opportunity to raise awareness, strengthen connections and contribute to a better understanding of the challenges faced by families affected by rare diseases.

Together, we can build a more informed, connected and supportive future for the rare disease community.
